10 Lessons from The Power of Self-Discipline:

5-Minute Exercises to Build Self-Control, Good Habits, and Keep Going When You Want to Give Up by Peter Hollins:     1. Self-Discipline is a Muscle: Self-discipline can be developed and strengthened through consistent effort, just like exercising a muscle.     2. Identify Your Emotional Obstacles: Recognize the emotions (laziness, fear, etc.) that hinder your self-discipline and learn to manage them effectively.     3. Practice Micro-Disciplines: Start with small, achievable tasks and gradually increase difficulty as your self-discipline improves.     4. Embrace the Power of "No": Learn to decline tempting but unproductive activities, prioritizing your long-term goals over short-term gratification.     5. Develop a "5-Minute Rule": When faced with a daunting task, commit to just 5 minutes of focused work. Often, starting is the hardest part, and momentum kicks in after the initial effort.     6. Harness the Power of Habit: Create routines and integrate self-discipl

Billionaire Daniel Lubetzky shares his No. 1 tip for success: Most people 'are just too afraid to' do it

Nobody can be a perfect leader, Lubetzky says. In his case, he often gets things wrong, and can be impulsive and easily blinded by passion — but his friends and colleagues call him out when he’s about to make a mistake, he adds. “If you don’t surround yourself with those people, then it is so much harder to [achieve success] because you can go in to ‘I’m amazing’ mode, and not realize when you are screwing up,” Lubetzky tells CNBC Make It. Lubetzky founded Kind Snacks in 2004, initially  running it on a shoestring budget  before accepting  roughly $16 million of outside funding  in 2008. Just over a decade later, Kind was acquired by food giant Mars for a  reported $5 bill

The two kinds of people who never get ahead or those who do only what they are told and those who are not doing what they are told. It's hard to say which would be more discouraging: drifting from job to job because you're always the first to be laid off, or laboring in monotonous obscurity at the same job. The first results from not doing what you were told to do, the second from doing only what you were told to do. You can get by for a time for with either approach, but you will never get ahead. Personal initiative is more important in today's enlightened, high-tech workplace than it was during the industrial age, when the ability to follow orders was a critical skill. As technology makes many supervisory functions obsolete, everyone of us is expected to do more with less, determine what needs to be done, and do it. Don't wait to be told. Know your company and your job so well that when you can anticipate what needs to be done, then do it.

SECTION 1  Questions 1-14 Read the text below and answer Questions 1-7. What to do if your clothes have been lost or damaged by a dry cleaner Dry cleaners are legally required to take reasonable care of anything left with them. You can claim compensation if your belongings are damaged or lost while in their care. Even if the dry cleaning company has a sign saying they aren’t responsible for items left with them, this isn’t necessarily true. They can’t opt out of this responsibility just by putting up a sign. As soon as you realise there’s a problem, contact them and explain the situation. They might offer you compensation straight away. If they don’t, you should ask them to either cover the cost of repairing the item or to pay for a replacement (if it can’t be repaired). If they have to pay the cost of replacing a damaged or lost item, the maximum they’re obliged to offer you is the value of the item when it was left with them, not what it would cost to replace as new. You’ll probably
